Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan has warned that her character Tina McIntyre may not be looking at the "big picture" when it comes to her surrogacy deal.
Tina is currently carrying a baby for Gary Windass (Mikey North) and Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Houston), but the arrangement has been progressing without any major dramas in recent months.
Keegan has now told itv.com that while Tina has "no fears" about giving up the baby, she may not be fully prepared for how she will feel when the child arrives.
She commented: "The surrogacy is running very smoothly. She's going through it on her own, but her and Tommy are back to being friends now, and she's very close to the Windasses/Armstrongs so everything's going to plan.
"She's had no fears - she thinks it's going to be fine. It's a business arrangement for Tina - she knows it's not her baby and she knows what she has to do. She's not confused by the emotions one bit... but maybe she hasn't thought far enough down the line."
Asked how Tina would feel about living so close to the child she carried, the actress replied: "I think she's got her head round that - she knows she'll be living on the same street as the baby, but at the same time, at the moment she's just taking every day as it comes.
"Maybe she hasn't put enough thought into it, as the only reason she got into this was to pay off Tommy's debts. Maybe she hasn't looked at the big picture yet."
